In August 2019, we partnered with the GitHub Student Developer Pack, offering students from all over the world our Startup Plan worth $49/month for free while they’re in school.

We are super chuffed to announce that we are extending the same benefits to teachers via the GitHub Teacher Toolbox! 🎉

Last month, we supported a university hackathon in Edinburgh, Hack the Burgh VI, where we saw students build a number of very impressive 24-hour hacks featuring Transloadit.

Students have shown incredible versatility when using Transloadit, and are using it to create fantastic projects. That being said, we can’t wait to see what great projects teachers can come up with, too!

Using Transloadit in the classroom

Being a great software engineer isn’t just about knowing computing theory and solving complex math problems. Nearly every technology professional will, at some point in their career, have to learn practical skills — and part of that is using efficient ways of handling file processing 📄

Our API can be integrated to handle file uploads, crop and watermark images, make GIFs, extract thumbnails, generate audio waveforms, process documents, leverage AI to make images, video, and audio searchable, and much more.

No matter what programming languages or frameworks you use in your class, we’ve got you covered. All of our 52 different features can be stringed together and then integrated into web/mobile apps, back-end services, or command-line utilities via 17 convenient SDKs like Uppy or the Go SDK, as well as directly through our JSON REST API.

In addition, more and more educators are using Transloadit as a tool to digitize and distribute course material. For instance, Transloadit can make lecture video recordings compatible for all devices, watermark them with the school's logo, or automatically transcribe videos to make them searchable.

With Uppy, students can record themselves and upload material asynchronously, PDFs can be thumbnailed, audio recordings normalized, and often fully automated via our integrations with Dropbox, Cloud buckets, and Zapier.

How to get educator benefits?

All educators who are currently teaching at a university or high school, or who lead a coding bootcamp, are eligible for our free educator plan. You can visit our offer page and see the details here: https://transloadit.com/github-teachers/.

Make sure you have successfully applied for the GitHub Teacher Toolbox prior to signing up!

We're excited to hear about the things you're automating with Transloadit — do let us know!
