What does Transloadit do for my platform?
It takes the files your customers upload and handles everything after that: receiving them, processing them — encoding video, resizing images, converting documents, running AI — then storing and delivering the results. How do my customers upload files?
Drop [Uppy](/docs/sdks/uppy.md), the open source file uploader we maintain, into your app, or send files through one of our [SDKs](/docs/sdks.md). Uploads are resumable, so a dropped connection picks up where it left off instead of starting over. Files already in cloud storage, on a server or behind a URL can be [imported](/services/file-importing.md) instead.
Which file types can Transloadit handle?
Images, video, audio, documents and archives, across hundreds of formats and codecs. Each Step skips files it can’t handle, so one Template can resize the images in an upload, encode its videos and simply store everything else. See the [supported formats](/docs/supported-formats.md).
Is there a limit on file size?
The ceiling depends on your plan; see the [maximum file size for each plan](/docs/faq/max-filesize.md). You can also set a lower one yourself, so customers can’t upload more than your product expects. [Talk to us](mailto:sales@transloadit.com) if you need to go beyond it.
Can customers upload whole folders?
Yes. [Uppy](/docs/sdks/uppy.md) can let people pick folders as well as individual files, and our import Robots can bring in an entire folder from cloud storage such as Amazon S3 or Dropbox in a single Step.
How do I keep uploads secure?
Keep your processing instructions in a [Template](/docs/topics/templates.md), which we store encrypted, and require [Signature Authentication](/docs/api/authentication.md) for requests using your Auth Key. Your backend must authenticate customers and authorize their uploads before signing requests. Signatures prevent changes to the signed parameters.
