Import from multiple sources

Handle file uploads by users or import entire media libraries from existing sources.

Flexible Storage

Results export back to original storage or to completely different solutions. You decide.

Importing Pipelines

Link Robots together to create custom import pipelines unique to your use case.

Your workflow. Your controls.

## File imports without the pain

Stop stitching downloads to processing scripts. Connect your source and go.

* ### Screen files on arrival

Filter by size and type, and scan for malware before processing.
* ### Unlock your back catalog

Turn whole libraries into fresh formats and previews, in batches.
* ### Grow beyond one provider

Move processed files between providers as you grow.
* ### Know the moment files are ready

Use per-file callbacks and webhook requests when processing finishes.
* ### Reserve capacity for peak traffic

Buy extra priority slots in advance. Extra jobs queue when your slots are busy.
* ### Keep spending in check

Set a soft bill limit for alerts or a hard limit to stop processing.

## Bring your files into one workflow

Import files from URLs and supported storage services, then process them in the same Assembly.

Files are scattered everywhere

Import from S3, R2, Azure, GCS, or any URL

Tons of API calls to migrate between storage services

One API call with Transloadit

Credentials repeated across integrations

Reuse saved Template Credentials

Nested folders need manual handling

Import whole folder trees in one go

Each imported file needs more processing

Connect import steps to processing robots

Import failures are hard to track

Stop at or ignore errors and inspect them

## Frequently asked questions

Which storage providers can I import from?

Bring files from Amazon S3, Cloudflare R2, Google Cloud Storage, Azure, SFTP, and other supported sources. Each provider has its own import Robot and configuration. [Find your storage integration](/integrations.md).

Can I import a file from a URL?

Yes. Use the HTTP import Robot for files reachable over HTTP or HTTPS. You can configure request headers when the source requires them. [See HTTP import options](/docs/robots/http-import.md).

How do I give Transloadit access to private files?

Save the provider credentials as Template Credentials and reference them in your import step. Grant only the permissions your workflow needs; users do not need to see those credentials. [Learn about Template Credentials](/docs/topics/template-credentials.md).

Can I import folders or an existing library?

Yes, supported import Robots can select multiple files using paths or prefixes. Selection and recursion options vary by provider. Use batch processing for larger existing collections. [Explore batch processing](/services/batch-processing.md).

Can imported files be processed automatically?

Yes. Connect the import step to image resizing, audio or video encoding, document conversion, or other Robots. Add an export step to save the results, all in one Assembly. [Learn how processing workflows fit together](/docs.md).

Does importing remove the original files?

Importing reads source files for processing. It does not perform a storage migration’s deletion or cutover for you. Keep your originals until you have verified the exported results. [See an S3 import example](/docs/robots/s3-import.md).

How can I estimate and control costs?

Rates vary by operation and usage. Set a soft bill limit for alerts or a hard limit to stop processing. For larger workloads, ask about volume pricing and capacity for your imports. [Estimate your workflow costs](/pricing.md).
