# Enhancing web speed with lossless image optimization

We are thrilled to announce a new addition to our family today: the[/image/optimize](/docs/robots/image-optimize.md) Robot.

This Robot is able to reduce the file sizes of your JPEG and PNG images by up to 80% - while keeping their all of their original quality! It thereby enables you to lower your storage and bandwidth costs, and improves your user experience and monetization by reducing load times of image-intensive web pages.

There is only one parameter right now that you can control - and that is to optionally interlace the resulting image so that the browser can show a low resolution version until the image data is fully loaded. This works for both JPEG and PNG images.
