Transloadit Blog

Transloadit currently operates from two main datacenters, one in the US (North Virginia) and one in the EU (Ireland). Most of our users are served well by these, but for people in Japan or Australia, we could still do better. So we're opening in a third datacenter in Singapore (also named: Asia-Pacific, AP, or: ap-southeast-1) in order to offer much lower latencies for the entire region.

On December 6, the thing we always dread the most happened. At 13:23, we noticed capacity issues with our platform. It soon turned out to be a serious issue which resulted in downtime for many use cases. We are extremely sorry that we allowed this to happen. Uptime and reliability are essential for the service we provide to our customers, so we work hard to make sure that these outages are as few and far between as possible.

We are excited to show you a new addition to our /s3/import Robot. Until now, we didn't offer a way to recursively import files from your Amazon S3 buckets to use in Transloadit. Usually, you would need to specify each folder in an Assembly Step — and that can be a lot of work.

This blogpost will be the first of a series that we're calling Re-loadit. In this series, we will be covering a number of Transloadit's features that haven't yet received a proper introduction to our users.

My colleagues have been hard at work for over two months designing a new and improved dashboard for all Transloadit users to enjoy! One of the latest things we have come up with here at Transloadit is "Turbo Mode". This new feature will help you to drastically cut down on video encoding time. In the next couple of sections, we'll be going through various tests and results to show you all about it.

One of our new creations here at Transloadit is the Transloadit Wizard. This tool allows you to quickly create Encoding Instructions tailor-made to your needs in only five short steps. The Instructions are saved in a Template for security and reusability. My teammates recently created this feature, so today I will give it a spin and take you through a short tutorial to show how effective the Wizard really is. On 4 June at 5:32pm CEST, we deployed a backward-compatibility-breaking change, even though we pledge to never 'just do' this and, for example, take extreme care in stack herding to ensure our customers' setups only change when they choose to opt in.
