# Discontinuing real-time encoding due to growth

on December 20th 2011 we launched a cool feature called real-time encoding which allowed us to encode videos while they were still being uploaded.

Unfortunately we will remove this feature in 2 weeks on May 9 as it has proven difficult to adapt to our changing infrastructure and growing customer base.

That being said, we're looking into bringing back the feature in an improved form in the future. If you rely on real-time encoding and can't adjust to this change, please get in touch so we can figure something out.

You do not have to adjust your Templates - the real-time parameter will simply be ignored.
