# Convert AVIF to JPG with an API

Convert AVIF to JPG directly in the live demo below, or use the same Assembly Instructions in your application. [🤖/image/resize](/docs/robots/image-resize.md) handles the conversion as files are uploaded and can process an existing media library through an import Robot.

JPG has broader support in older software and common editing workflows, but it does not support transparency. Transparent AVIF pixels are flattened against the configured background during conversion. JPG is also lossy, so this example sets `quality` to `85` for a practical balance between visual quality and file size.

Keep the AVIF original if you may need to edit or re-encode the image later. For production workflows, connect the conversion Step to your preferred storage Robot and choose a quality value that matches your source material.
