The commerce application still owns crawlable page markup, intrinsic dimensions, responsive image attributes, alt text, product structured data, canonical URLs, and the editorial decision that an image is appropriate to publish.
When should a store preprocess media instead of using on-demand delivery?
Preprocess derivatives that must exist before publication, require human approval, or must be exported and retained as immutable catalog outputs. Use on-demand delivery for a bounded set of presentation variants when cold-miss latency is acceptable and demand is difficult to predict. Many commerce systems use both paths.
