Upscale images with an AI API
Upscale an image directly in the live demo below, or use the same Assembly Instructions to add AI upscaling to an application. 🤖/image/upscale generates a result at two or four times the source dimensions instead of merely stretching the existing pixels.
AI upscaling can reconstruct edges and texture, but it cannot recover ground truth that was never captured. Inspect important details such as faces, text, logos, and product edges before publishing the result. This example uses a 2× scale and leaves face enhancement disabled to avoid altering faces unnecessarily.
Use upscaling for low-resolution assets that need more pixels. Use image enhancement when the dimensions are already sufficient but tone, sharpness, noise, or white balance needs work. AI processing has a higher minimum charge and latency than a conventional resize, so reserve it for files that benefit from generated detail.
