# What is a Template?

A Template contains the file processing instructions in JSON. It will be safely encrypted after saving. Templates are the **recommended** way to integrate with Transloadit.

Please keep in mind that we store files for only 24 hours after they were created. To persist your files, please use one of our [file export robots](/docs/robots.md#file-exporting).
